What is 14k Vermeil? In order for jewelry to be called 14k vermeil, the base metal needs to be Sterling Silver and the chain is plated with a minimum of .05 micron of 14k gold.
How long does the plating last? 
It depends on how often you wear it and how it’s cared for. The outer layer of gold will wear down quickly with heavy regular wear. To mae it last longer, you can store it in an airtight container avoiding exposing it to chemicals, moisture, lotions, and sweat. 
Can it be re-plated?
Yes it can be re-plated. Average cost is $150.
